I-80 Nationals draws Stormy Scott to I-80 Speedway
Thursday night saw Stormy Scott return to action with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) at I-80 Speedway (Greenwood, Neb.) for the I-80 Nationals, the three-day event replacing the Knoxville Nationals due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In a stout field of 46 cars, Scott laid down the second fastest time in his group behind Kyle Strickler before placing sixth in his heat. Starting the $7,000-to-win A-Main in 12th, Stormy dropped seven spots in the 30-lap affair to record a 19th place outing.
On Friday afternoon for another $7,000-to-win preliminary feature, Stormy followed up sixth place finish in his heat with the third and final transfer spot in his B-Main. Rolling off 23rd, Scott held his spot for all 30 laps to register a 23rd place finish.
With preliminary results from Thursday and Friday positioning Stormy fourth on the starting grid for his B-Main on Saturday evening, Scott secured his spot into the finale with a third place finish. With $30,000 on the line, Stormy Scott was an early retiree from the 80-lapper on lap 37.
