Stormy Scott bags Top-10 finish in USA Nationals at Cedar Lake Speedway
Thursday night saw Stormy Scott make the haul to Cedar Lake Speedway (New Richmond, Wis.) to compete in the 33rd annual USA Nationals weekend. Drawing 46 World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series entries for the $6,000-to-win preliminary feature, Scott posted a 10th place finish in his heat race, sending him into the B-Main for another shot at the opening night feature. Needing to place third or better, Stormy fell short with a 10th place outing.
The following night for a pair of heat races, Stormy jumped up one spot in his first heat to pick up the win. Starting in eighth for the second round, Scott logged an eighth place finish, which positioned him 18th overall in passing points. Taking part in the FANS Fund Dash on Friday evening for a shot at the $2,500 prize, Stormy recorded a seventh place finish.
Coming two spots shy of locking his spot into the show via passing points, Scott needed a third place finish or better in his B-Main on Saturday to make the $50,000-to-win USA Nationals A-Main. Streaking to a 15-lap consolation victory, Stormy locked into the 18th-starting position for the finale. Breaking into the Top-10, Stormy Scott passed nine cars in the 100-lapper to place ninth.
