Stormy notches fifth-place finish in Eldora's Lidlifter; Johnny bags Top-10 finish at Tri-State
Johnny Scott returned with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) on Friday afternoon at Lakeside Speedway (Kansas City, Kan.) for the seventh annual Spring Sizzler. With 48 cars on hand, Scott secured his spot into the $10,000-to-win A-Main with an eight-lap heat race victory. After leading 10 laps in the middle stages of the race, Johnny was an early exit from the 35-lapper.
On Saturday night at Tri-State Speedway (Pocola, Okla.), Scott followed up a second-place finish in his heat with a runner-up finish in his B-Main. Starting the feature in 17th, Johnny improved eight spots to register a ninth-place finish.
Also on Saturday, Stormy entered his Longhorn Chassis No. 2s Late Model into competition at Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) for the Sunoco American Late Model Series-sanctioned Late Model Lidlifter. With the fastest lap in time trials placing him on the pole for the $5,000-to-win A-Main, Scott dropped five spots in the 30-lapper to finish fifth. He trailed Hudson O’Neal, Darrell Lanigan, Devin Moran, and Kyle Bronson to the checkers.
