Johnny bags Top-5 finish with USMTS at Hamilton County
On Friday night, Johnny Scott returned with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) at Hamilton County Speedway (Webster City, Iowa) for the inaugural Spring Challenge. Picking up a 10-lap heat race victory to start off the night, Scott locked into the pole position for the opening night feature. With $5,000 on the line, Johnny faded three spots to finish fourth, trailing Terry Phillips, Jake O’Neil, and Dan Ebert across the line with Jason Hughes coming in fifth.
The following night, Johnny returned with the USMTS while Stormy entered Late Model action at Tazewell Speedway (Tazewell, Tenn.). After placing 10th in his heat race, Johnny edged his way into the $10,000-to-win A-Main with the fifth and final transfer spot in his B-Main. Coming one spot shy of a Top-5 finish in the feature, Scott advanced through the field 16 spots to register a sixth-place finish.
Drawing 35 Schaeffer’s Spring Nationals series entries for the Lil’ Bill Corum Memorial, Stormy recorded a third-place finish in his heat, which positioned him ninth on the starting grid for the $21,000-to-win A-Main. Dropping outside the Top-10, Scott faded back to a 17th-place outing.
