Johnny Scott grabs Top-5 finish in USMTS opening weekend at RPM Speedway
Hopping behind the wheel of his Mesilla Valley Transportation No. 1st Modified, Johnny Scott invaded RPM Speedway (Crandall, Texas) on Friday night for the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) doubleheader to kick off the season. Drawing a stout field of 71 cars, Scott dropped three spots in his heat race to finish fourth, sending him into the B-Main. Needing a fourth place finish or better to make the feature, Johnny logged an eighth-place outing.
For another $10,000-to-win A-Main on Saturday, Johnny started the night off with a heat race victory, which positioned him seventh on the starting grid for the A-Main. Breaking into the Top-5, Scott passed three cars in the 50-lapper to place fourth, trailing Dereck Ramirez, Tyler Wolff, and Rodney Sanders across the line with Kale Westover coming in fifth.
