Johnny Scott notches a pair of Top-10 finishes in Gopher 50 prelims

Following a sixth-place outing in his heat, Johnny edged his way into the $10,000-to-win A-Main with the third-and-final transfer spot in his B-Main. Moving forward five spots in the 50-lap affair, Scott recorded a 17th-place finish.
With Stormy joining his brother in action on Thursday, the duo headed north to Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minn.) to kick off the NAPA Auto Parts Gopher 50 weekend with two rounds of preliminary features. Stormy locked his spot into the prelim with a second-place finish while Johnny placed third. With $5,000 on the line, Johnny gained one spot to register an eighth-place finish while Stormy faded to finish 20th.
For another $5,000-to-win preliminary on Friday, Johnny posted a 10th-place finish in the 25-lapper while Stormy raced from the 12th row to cross the line in 15th.
With Johnny’s spot already locked into Saturday’s $50,000-to-win Gopher 50 via preliminary points, Stormy raced into the 75-lap finale with a 10-lap consolation victory. Stormy carried a steady pace to finish 17th while Johnny followed him across the line in 18th.
